About Rajan Parrikar
I was born and raised in Goa. I moved to the USA in 1988 and obtained a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Goa and Iceland together serve as my lodestar. I have photographed widely in Goa, ranging over its landscape, heritage, and people. I have documented the decay of its environment and socio-cultural identity thanks to India’s malign influence. Over the past 17 years I have traversed the wondrous landscape of Iceland in an ongoing photographic exploration.
I am also a musician with a lifelong immersion in the musical traditions of India.
Silicon Valley in California was my home for 25 years. I now live in Iceland.
I maintain an active photo blog. For image licensing or prints you may email me.

Declaration:
I prefer to work with a single exposure and strive to preserve the integrity of the scene in front of the lens. I do not replace skies or insert external elements but I may occasionally clone out distractions to strengthen the composition. What you see here are photographs, not composite images or or AI generated fantasy. My artistic impulse is best conveyed in the words of the mathematician Hermann Weyl:
“My work always tried to unite the true with the beautiful; but when I had to choose one or the other, I usually chose the beautiful.”
